Make this quick and easy cabbage recipe for delicious yet nutritious side dishes.

Remove any discolored leaves from the cabbage. Cut the head of the cabbage in half, cut each half into 1½-inch wedges so that the core holds the wedges together intact.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. If using bacon fat or bacon, add boiling water to give it a flavor.

Add the cabbage wedges and cook for 8-12 minutes, or just until tender.

Drain well, drizzle with butter, then season with salt and pepper.
- Soup can be replaced with water for more flavor.
- Top with crispy bacon if needed.
- If desired, cut the cabbage into 1-inch strips instead of wedges. Reduce cooking time as needed.
