If you already like classic gin, you’ll really like this Sloe Gin Fizz. Sloe Gin is a liqueur made by injecting Sloe Berries into the juniper meat, which makes it pink, fruity, sour and delicious.
I love this simple sloe gin cocktail recipe. It is refreshing and pleasantly balances sweets with sours. For more sizzling, try my rosemary gin foam!
Key Ingredients
- Sloe Gin: Sloe Gin is a popular drink originated from England. It is made from Sloe Berries (small wild berries found throughout England). While their taste is not a person, dipping these berries into gin and the sugar will turn them into a delicious liqueur. You can find two types of Sloe Gins in the United States. First, soak in high quality gin with higher quality bottles. Examples include Plymouth and the Truth of Pain. Second, there are more cheap, lower Sloe gin, made with neutral cereal spirits instead of gin. This liqueur requires a regular gin to add to your cocktail for better flavor. I included tips for two Sloe gins in the recipe below.
- Gin (optional): Depending on the type of Sloe gin you have, you may want to add gin in addition to Sloe Gin. I chose the medium and elevated gin. London dry gin (such as steak) or Plymouth gin works well. The London Dry Gin is simpler in flavor, while the Plymouth Gin is more fragrant.
- Powdered sugar: I balanced the gin with lemon juice with a little sugar. The powdered sugar dissolves quickly in the cocktail, which is why I am such a fan, but you can also use simple homemade syrup.
- lemon: Fresh lemon juice is the key to making this gin cocktail taste so refreshing. I highly recommend using fresh lemon juice on bottled lemon juice, but use what is available.
- Soda Club: I love the soda club in cocktails because it adds a little salt, which enhances the taste of other ingredients. You can use soda or soda with the same amount of salt or mineral content.

Relaxed gin foam
We love this beautiful pink sloe gin cocktail recipe. It’s very simple, fresh, lightweight and perfect for warm weather. Sloe Gin is a liqueur with alcohol content usually ranging from 15% to 30% (proven range from 30% to 60%). If your bottle is on the lower end, I highly recommend mixing 50-50 Sloe gin into regular gin (1 ounce per cup).

Adam and Joanne’s Tips
- Notes about Sloe Gin: The recipe above assumes you are using 30 cheaper gin ginseng (15% alcohol content). If you are using a more expensive, higher proof option, don’t add extra gin, but increase the amount of Sloe Gin from 1 ounce to 2 ounces.
