Ingredients for pasture dipping

  • mayonnaise: Mayonnaise makes the base rich in cream.
  • sour cream: Sour cream adds to the soup and lightens this ranch dip. I often use Greek yogurt instead.
  • Herbs: I prefer fresh herbs if possible, but you can use dry herbs in this recipe. If using dry herbs, allow seasonings to be at least 30 minutes before serving.

  • Add a little buttermilk powder to add extra flavor and cream without dipping in the dip. It can be found in the “Dry Milk” section of the supermarket or can be ordered online here.
  • Add chopped dill pickles or diced jalapeno.

Storage

Dip the ranch in a plastic sealed container or glass jar and stay in the refrigerator for up to a week. I do not recommend freezing it because dairy ingredients make the thawed wet granules.

  • In a medium bowl, add mayonnaise, sour cream, chives, dill, parsley, onion powder, garlic powder, pepper and salt. Stir and combine.

  • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

*Chi chives can be omitted or chopped green onions with 1 teaspoon.
Optional add: 2 tablespoons buttermilk powder, with a rich and rich flavor.
Make ranch dressingsdip 1 tablespoon with buttermilk or milk at a time to achieve the desired consistency.
If using dry herbs, dip in at least 30 minutes before use.
Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
