The perfect Aperol Spritz recipe

The perfect classic Aperol Spritz is lightweight, refreshing and bubbled! We first tried this classic Italian cocktail in Venice and have loved them ever since.

After trying my first Aperol Spritz in Italy a few years ago, I immediately started browsing the Aperol Spritz recipes to rebuild it at home. This lightweight and bubble cocktail made of Prosecco, Aperol and soda is often used as an apéritif and is enjoyed before meals to stimulate appetite.

Aperol Spritzes are perfect for warm weather and summer drinks. Enjoy one before dinner or pair it with lighter dishes such as Antipasto, Bruschetta, Shrimp scampi, olives, crepes and Caprese salad.

Key Ingredients

  • Aperol: Look for Aperol next to liqueur and bitters, such as Amaro. Aperol is a vibrant red-orange liqueur with citrus, herbs and bittersweetness. If you prefer a bold, more bittersweet cocktail, try the same proportion of Campari Spritz, but swap the Aperol for Campari.
  • Prosecco: Look for Prosecco next to sparkling wine. This Italian blistering wine has a light, crispy and fruity flavor. Looking for Brut on the tag, which means Prosecco is not sweet. Avoid sweeter Prosecco like Prosecco Dolce, which will make your Aperol Spritz too sweet. I’m looking for a mid-range Prosecco (like when buying sparkling wines from mimosa). Small batch manufacturers or bottles that usually mention Doc or Docg labels are usually more delicious if you can find them. If you have a local wine shop, please ask the staff for guidance and their advice.
  • Soda: Regular soda is good. You can also use club soda with minerals and salt added (I prefer this flavor) or your favorite gleaming water brand.

How to make Aperol Spritz

The classic Aperol Spritz ratio is 3-2-1which means you will need 3 parts Prosecco, 2 parts Aperol and 1 part soda. With this ratio, your cocktail is delicious, not too bitter, not too sweet.

Reduce aperol and increase the pain of Prosecco. For lower alcohol content, reduce prosecco and aperol slightly and increase soda. If you like this bitterness and want more, try making a Campari Spritz.

How to make Aperol Spritz: Pour Prosecco into a wine glass with ice and Aperol

To make Aperol Spritz, add your Aperol, Prosecco and Soda Water to your ice-filled wine glass. I added Aperol first, then Prosecco, and finally soda. Then, garnish with fresh orange. When making the Aperol Spritz, you can gently stir the cocktail, but be careful not to overuse it so as not to deflate the bubbles of Prosecco.

The perfect Aperol Spritz

We love this classic Aperol Spritz cocktail recipe with Aperol, Prosecco and Soda Water. We have tried these things first in Italy since and have always loved them. The Aperol Spritz tastes a bit bitter, with an orange and herbal sweetness. It is lightweight, refreshing, effervescent (blister), and has a low alcohol content compared to other cocktails.

You will need

3 oz (90 ml) Prosecco, Looking for Brut (dry) Prosecco

direction

1Place the wine glass halfway and add the Aperol. Stream slowly in prosec and soda. The cocktail should mix itself when you pour in the Prosecco, but you can use a long spoon and gently rotate around the glass.

2Slide into the orange slice and enjoy!

Adam and Joanne’s Tips

  • Prosecco: We recommend using medium distances or additional Brut Prosec. Sweet styles will make the cocktail too sweet.
  • Soda: Use soda, soda or your favorite soda. I love the soda club because it adds a little salt and I think that will make this cocktail taste better.
  • Adjust your taste: Aperol tastes bittersweet. If you find the pain overwhelmed, reduce the aperol slightly and increase prosecco. For less clumsy cocktails, reduce prosec and appellol and increase soda.
  • Campari Spritz: Swap Aperol for Campari, it tastes lower and is more bitter. This is our Campari Spritz.
  • Grapefruit Aperol Spritz: Use grapefruit shiny water instead of regular soda. Garland with a slice of grapefruit.
  • Blood Orange Aperol Spritz: Use blood orange soda instead of regular soda. Decorate with a slice of blood orange.
  • Cranberry Aperol Spritz: In our classic recipe, replace one ounce of aperol with 1 ounce (30 ml) of cranberry juice.
